Awards

Mercury Award

The award for contacting or hearing members of the RNARS. It is issued on a points basis; 1 point per member heard or worked per band, 2 points for any RNARS special calls (eg GB3RN etc), and 2 points for contacts in bands above 30MHz.

There are 3 classes:

Class 1 achieved after accruing 20 points, the minimum for G,M or 2 stations.
Class 2 achieved after accruing 10 points, the minimum for EU stations.
Class 3 achieved after 5 points, only for stations outside Europe.
Stickers are available for each additional 10 points up to 100, then each further 50 points up to 250, and finally then 250 points to 1000.

World Wide Awards

This award is for contacting or hearing members in 10 DXCC countries and on at least 2 continents. A member signing /MM can be claimed if close to the shores of a missing continent but does not count for a missing country.

Hampshire County Award

Award for contacting or hearing ANY stations in the English county of Hampshire. (NB: IoW does not count). Each station counts as 1 point with RNARS special event stations giving 2 points.

3 Classes

Class 1 - UK 50 points, EU 20, DX 15.
Class 2 - UK 30 points, EU 15, DX 10.
Class 3 - UK 20 points, EU 10, DX 5

Kaleidescope Award

This award is for contacting or hearing RNARS members, using the last letter of the callsign to spell out ROYAL NAVY AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY. No more than one member may count for any single letter.

International Navy Award

Class 1. Work or hear 10 RNARS members, 10 MF Runde members, 3 INORC Members and 1 MARAC member. Plus 1 member from ANARS, BMARS, FNARS, YO-MARC or MFCA.

Class 2. Work or hear 5 RNARS, 5 MF RUNDE and 1 INORC. Plus any 1 as per Class 1.

Class 3. This class is for DX stations outside Europe only. Work or hear 3 RNARS, 3 MF RUNDE, plus 1 other as per class 1.

Joker A contact with a valid Museum ship not listed above counts as a missing contact, only 1 per application.

BITS Award

The award for contacting or hearing members of the RNARS in any digital data mode. Such as PSK, RTTY, SSTV etc. Please note this does not include digital voice modes such as DSTAR, DMR etc.
1 point per member heard or worked per mode and per band.
5 points for special event stations.
The classes are the same as per the Mercury Award. Note that variations of the same mode do not count again, so PSK 31 and PSK 63 are the same as are RTTY normal or inverted.

50 Year Membership

Awarded to members who have completed 50 years continuous membership of the society. Apply to the membership secretary.

Robert Sharpe G3AWY Award

In memory of Robert Sharpe, G3AWY presented to the best construction or technical article featured in the society newsletter. Nominations are considered by the newsletter editor.
