About the Society

The society promotes and fosters understanding radio and technology in all its forms. We encourage learning about everything we depend on around us be it HF/VHF radio, WiFi, to mobile phones and more. Radio knowledge and understanding is particularly important in the maritime domain. Seafarers and those interested in maritime affairs are welcome. We particularly encourage personnel involved in communication or information. You do not need an Amateur Licence in order to join us.

What you get

By joining us you will get a regular newsletter delivered to you. (depending on your choice of membership). Great support in learning about radio, developing your knowledge of the Electromagnetic Spectrum. Access to a wealth of knowledge from our members and veterans. Gain or learn more about Amateur radio.

Meet people like you

Struggling with a course, where you need to have some fundamental understanding? We have members who may be able to guide you in the right direction. We often have personnel at our HQ shack every week. If you're based in Collingwood, Sultan or in the area and already have site access, you're welcome to come in and see what it's like. Otherwise you'll be better off joining up first. Existing members please send the Secretary an email, and there is more information in the forum too.

Organised Visits

We welcome visits from interested groups. But these need to be planned and arranged ahead of time.

Enjoying the experience? Have a particular interest? A Raspberry Pi project or electronics interest? Radio and Electronics often go hand in hand. It's not one hobby or interest it's lots of people each with their own knowledge they would love to share with you.
